Fleetwith Pike, Borrowdale, Cumbria

27 March 1999

We scattered Milton's ashes at this beautiful place by the natural stone outcrop. The day was clear and bright with snow on higher peaks. Buttermere and Crummock water vivid blue below us, and beyond the Irish Sea and Scotland.

Nowhere else could be more perfect.

  • View North-West from Fleetwith Pike
  • A rose marks where Milton's ashes were scattered
  • Friends and family gathered for farewell
